The Noble Chimney Newsletter

Once a month, Daniel Watkins sends out a short, useful email for homeowners in Lockport and the southwest suburbs: what’s showing up in area chimneys right now, seasonal maintenance reminders timed to our Illinois weather, and answers to the questions customers asked most that month. No filler, no daily drip, no selling your address to anyone — ever.

What Subscribers Get

  • Seasonal timing that matters here. When to book a sweep before the fall rush, when freeze-thaw season threatens crowns, when to check the dryer vent.
  • Real findings from local roofs. Anonymized photos and lessons from recent jobs in Lockport, Joliet, Crest Hill, and nearby towns.
  • Straight answers. One reader question answered properly in every issue.
  • New guides first. Links to new articles on the blog before they’re promoted anywhere else.

Why We Bother

Most chimney problems we’re called for were preventable — a cap that should have been replaced two winters ago, creosote left to harden into glaze, a dryer vent nobody thought about until the dryer died. A well-timed reminder is the cheapest chimney service there is. That’s the whole idea behind this list: fewer emergencies, better-maintained flues, and homeowners who know what a fair price looks like before they need one.
